CIVIL WAR MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. , NEWARK, N.J. PERCUSSION .36 CAL. NAVY REVOLVER. All original and matching five shot revolver with 6 ½” octagon barrel having the “MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO., NEWARK, N.J.” address. 10 stop cylinder with oval panel cylinder scene and patent date stamping at the rear of the cylinder. Walnut one piece grips. All original and matching serial numbers including the wedge with the lever un-numbered. Very good plus overall with traces of blue in the recesses and balance a grey patina. Some very fine salt and pepper mixed with the barrel patina. Frame with some minor fading case hardening. Cylinder scene with wear but patent dates very crisp. Grips very fine with light even wear. Brass mellow and very pleasing. Excellent, very tight working order and good bore and chambers. Nice example of a private purchase revolver carried by many Civil War Officer’s.
