This pistol was produced in 1978. The serial number is SA 01406. This is a "C" coverage or 3/4th coverage engraving. The engraving is done in the heavy cut style. The pistol is almost full coverage but is still classified as 3/4 coverage. The trigger guard strap has the correct ENG stamp below the serial number denoting factory work. The grips are also serial numbered to this pistol. The engraving is really stunning and stands out with the color cased finish. The 4 and 3/4 inch barrel is not commonly seen in engraved Colts. This is a brand new unused Colt that has not even been cocked. The cylinders have a really nice scroll at the back of the cylinder. all of the engraving is done hansomly and stands out quite vividly. Most of the engraved Colts that I have seen in this time period are more subdued in their style. This Colt is bold in style and workmanship! If you are looking for a real standout Colt for your collection this pistol is it! I do not have the original box for this pistol. Search for hlvfineguns on google.
