General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1909, 16 Gauge, 7lbs, Side by Side Serial Number: 210983 My collection consists mostly of Fox guns and pre-1913 L.C. Smiths. I love the early Elsie graded guns with superior fit and finish and classic engraving. The early guns had firing pin bushings, finer sculpting of the frame, more attention to details, nicer wood and checkering, and better inletting. This fine Elsie, sn210983 built in 1909, is very special. First, it is one of only 793 total Grade 2 guns made in 16ga. and only about 1/2 with ejectors, likely less than 650 left on the planet. THAT IS RARE. Second, it is a rare straight gripped stock with a long LOP of 14 5/8" to a mid-position factory Single Selective Trigger. Realize that this would be 15" LOP to a front trigger and if you add a vintage pad you can extend the LOP another inch. This is a factory stock that a tall, modern day shooter can actually shoot! Third we have very clean condition. Most Grade 2E guns are worn, having bad screws, cut off stocks, rust and pits...lots of issues. When we found this gun it had perfect wood to metal fit, perfect screws, no cracks or rust anywhere. It was a "grey gun" that had never been apart. We did a perfect restoration on the gun, with Turnbull case color and blue, and gorgeous Tru Oil finish. The wood to metal fit is perfect, the lettering and engraving are superb, the mechanics have all been stripped, inspected, and properly lubricated, the barrels are perfect inside and out, and the action is tight on hinge and face like a new gun. This gun has it all, and you don't have to wait a year or more to have it restored to perfection, as it has already been done, and there are no additional expenses you have to endure. Look the photos over closely. This is an awesome gun, about the perfect pheasant gun, and would be an incredible sporting clays gun as well. You hardly ever see pre-1913 graded guns for sale, and they are very sought after. A great opportunity to have an excellent, investment quality example of what a L.C. looked like straight out of the box.
