Description:
Serial #3711B, .303 British, 20 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome little carbine that retains 80-85% of the original blue finish with some gray fading at the muzzle, on the nosecap, exposed edges, and on the bearing surfaces of the matching numbered bolt. There is some further fading and mild pinprick pitting along the edges of the handle as well. Additionally, a very small and unobtrusive import marking is present on the top right of the wrist socket underneath the bolt handle when closed. The walnut stock and handguards are in very good plus-fine shape with scattered light handling marks under an old armory-added military oil finish and some small surface blemishes along the forend. The carbine comes complete with chained magazine and is housed in an original brown leather British carbine bucket that has a “(Broad Arrow)/20” stamp at the mouth, crisp “H.G.R. 1916” stamp on the strap, and an “RD/D/3” marking on the rigid tab. The leather is in fine condition overall with only light surface scuffs and a touch of flaking along the lip of the opening and mild crazing along the body. The strap is still supple and intact, as is the narrow loop on the back of the perpendicular tab. This is a highly desirable carbine and bucket outfit that would make a wonderful addition to any collection. {Ref. “The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton; 2007} FFL or C&R
