Of all the fine vintage American double shotguns made prior to WWII it seems A.H. Fox Gun Co. has finally taking its rightful place as the most delightful handling of them all. Light in weight for gauge, simple mechanics that seem to never fail, artfully sculpted petite receiver, classically shaped stock all come together to challenge the dynamics of even fine English guns costing 3 times more money. The American double gun enthusiasts have bought up all of the Fox 20 bore guns and are not letting them go. Just search the internet and you will see this is true. Some like them all original as shipped, but many have taken to Fox guns that demonstrate the pinnacle of the gunmaker's art. This fine Fox, sn202385 built as an A Grade in 1925, is a fine example of the latter. Upgraded to FE Grade status with extraordinary rose and scroll engraving, lavish borders, gold inlaid dogs and grouse, gold wire accents, 3" engraved barrel wedge with gold lightning bolts, highly engraved skeleton butt plate, finely sculpted fancy back action with rebated frame, beautiful 1/2 round pistol grip stock with flor-de-lis carvings, finely checkered, fully checkered forearm with horn inlaid schnabel tip...THIS GUN HAS IT ALL AND SHOWS SOME OF THE FINEST WORKMANSHIP YOU WILL SEE ON A CUSTOM SHOTGUN. Look closely at the detail and perfection of the engraving, checkering, and wood to metal fit. Look at the sculpting of the frame as it meets the barrel breeches, the rebates for the stock, the scalloped back of the frame. The butt plate is a work of art in itself, as are all of the screws. This is a Master's work! Weighing just 6lbs. 7oz with a 15" LOP and 30" #3 weight barrels and balanced dead on the hinge pin, the gun floats in your hands. Mechanically excellent in all ways, presently choked F/F (we can alter the chokes in our shop within 10 days of purchase) with awesome long stock dimensions (we can bend the stock to your dimensions in our shop as above), this gun is priced at less than the cost of the engraving and stock work. A great buy on an over-the-top, as new, vintage A.H. Fox Gun Co. 20 bore with long barrels and some of the best engraving you will ever see. A great, investment quality shotgun. Thanks for looking!
