Description:
S# 53386, 11.7 X 51 Rmm, 35 3/8 inch barrel, bright very good bore with light erosion in grooves just in front of chamber. This 1878 manufactured rifle was converted to centerfire and had the rear sight ladder changed to match the new ammo around 1896-97. Rifle remains in very good condition with the barrel showing 20% blue with balance a brown patina. Action is bright with scattered specks of oxidation staining. Wood shows typical dings and scratches, butstock is numbered to gun and wears a unit disk marked J.R. 412 on right side and inspectors cartouche on comb by butplate tang. Antique
