This is an 1847 rifle that has about 60-70% of an attractive, high polish, added blue finish along the barrel that has flaked gray along the top radius before turning to a mellow plum-brown at the breech. The extensive military proofs and markings are still crisp and clear and there are some small specks of pinprick pitting present on the side of the bolster. The lockplate and hammer have likewise been nicely refinished with all of the markings still clear and well-defined. The walnut stock exhibits numerous minor handling marks and small surface blemishes under an added military oil finish with several small repairs evident on the left side of the wrist and butt. A hairline chip has begun to develop at the toe. The polished brass has begun to reacquire an overall mellow ochre patina and a newly made metal ramrod is included. The action is tight and fully functional, and the rifle rates very good condition overall. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: British Model: Brunswick Caliber Info: .704 Gauge Info: .704 |
