N. STARR CONTRACT U.S. MODEL 1818 CAVALRY SABER AND SCABBARD. 38” o/a with 32” blade with broad fuller stamped at the ricasso “US/P/LS/N. STARR”. All original and fine for this sword which saw long militia mounted service from the early 1820’s to the Civil War in some Southern Militia regiments. Most closely associated with the with the Seminole and other pre Removal and Removal period Indian Wars. Original black finish on hilt and scabbard and blade very good plus, Original wood grip with nice patina but leather gone. Nice example.
