Lock plate stamped “TOWER/1862”. Standard the band Infantry pattern used by both sides during the war but with a high percentage purchased by the Confederate States and the Confederate Govt. itself. This particular example came from a collection in Virginia and has carved initials “WS” in the right butt stock upside down in the Confederate manner (initials appear upright in a rifle stack).
