1851 Self-Cocking Adams Dragoon Percussion Revolver

  • 38 bore / .52 caliber cap & ball
  • Owned by Sir Nelson Rycroft 4th Baronet
  • 7 7/8" barrel
  • Barrel address is "Dean, Adams & Dean 30 King William St., London Bridge"
  • Light engraving with the name Nelson Rycroft engraved on the right side of the barrel
  • Side lever for loading 
  • Hammer block safety (which has been filed down to not block the hammer. Most of these safeties were completely removed.) A rare find
  • 85% charcoal blue
  • Walnut grips
  • Spurless hammer
  • Comes in presentation case with brass die, brass 4 1/2" powder flask, and a F. Joyce & Co. metal container filled with percussion caps
  • First solid frame revolver from the Adams patent and is a double action making it faster to shoot than the Colt because you had to cock the Colt each time
  • Made in approximately 1854 (pre-dates the Colt single action)
  • Serial and patent number 9398 R
