Light Baby Carbine 15-118
Caliber 44-40 this gun is marked with Remington markings on tang and on upper left side of frame is marked “Winchester 1873” To indicate 44-40 caliber. Light Baby Carbine: Made c. 1885-1910. Estimated quantity a few thousand. Earliest production chambered for calibers 44 rimfire and 44 centerfire with 18-inch barrel. Majority of production (later mfr.) in caliber 44-60 with 20-inch very lightweight round barrels only. Available in blue or nickel finish (blue scarcer). Carbine type forend fastened with single barrel band. Weight just 5-3/4 lbs. Ring bar and addle ring on left frame.
Scarce: The carbine is centerfire. The gun was blued and has a nice plum brown patina, stock is varnished.
No corrosion on metal. Stock is varnished with usual small dents, dings, etc. Scarce little carbine.
