Description:
Marking on the receiver is " Model 30-S Express" with a 10k serial range. On the bbl is " 257 Rem-Roberts". This is the original Remington bbl and is marked as such. Not many made in 257 Roberts. This was the military 1917 Enfield design that Remington made for both England and the US for use in WWI. Remington did a service to the world in producing weapons during the War to end all Wars. The reward to them was getting the shaft in the end. They were stuck with all kinds of expensive tooling, parts, inventory and every thing that a company does not want to be stuck with. Orders were cancelled after the Armistice was signed and Remington was left out to hang. In order to not waste any thing they made these into a sporting rifle. The 1917 Enfield was not noted for being a beauty queen but Remington actually made a good looking rifle from it. Condition is VG with thinning blue. Nice smooth metal. VG markings. Smooth solid action. Near excellent bore. Sporter stock that does have it's share of hunting mars and dings and a repaired crack coming off the forearm on the left side.
