#3764 Smith Carbine, U.S. Civil War 50 Caliber Percussion Breechloader
This is a Smith Carbine and was manufactured by American Machine Works Springfield, Massachusetts and is serial number 7834. It retains 75-80% barrel blue and case colors. It has a nice inspector cartouche on the left wrist of the stock. The bore is excellent, bright and shiny without any trace of corrosion at all. The mechanical function is excellent, crisp and tight. The breach and barrel are matching numbers. The Smith Carbines were issued to Union cavalry regiments of West Virginia, Ill., CT, PA, Ohio and MA during the Civil War.
