Description:
ANTIQUE SERIAL NUMBER 1892 .38-40 SADDLE RING CARBINE, MADE 1896 THAT CAME OUT OF TEXAS!  A hard used example that was well taken care of, overall metal a deep uncleaned aged plum/brown patina, good barrel markings, saddle ring intact, rear carbine ladder sight is marked "1873" so it probably came off a '73 carbine at some time and needs slide only, forearm shows real saddle wear ahead of the receiver on the bottom and has the usual age crack ahead of the barrel band to the forend tip, butt stock shows some wear/shrinkage around the upper tang with an age crack coming back but going nowhere,  tight action and a surprisingly fine bore with strong rifling and only scattered light surface roughness, a lot of Texas (and possibly Mexican) history in this one! Appealing untouched, uncleaned Western appearance
