Description:
English lifeboat compass in a hardwood box with box jointed corners and dovetailed sliding top. Also included is a gutta percha screw top match case marked on the top "bryant & May/Ships/Lifeboat/Matches/Approved/by M of T/& C.A./Unscrew to open" and on the bottom "To/Ignite /Matches/Strike on/Grooved/Surface". The compass box measures 7 11/16" square by 5 3/16" high. The name "Sestrel" is printed on the compass North pointing arrow. Also included is an inspection label dated 1961. A piece for the marine collector, boat owner or decorator as new condition.
