EXTREMELY RARE AND EARLY MODEL 64 RIFLE IN .219 ZIPPER CALIBER, #1111XXX, MADE 1936, the .219 Zipper was introduced in 1937 so this was probably one of the first made using a receiver that was numbered in 1936- keep in mind this was in the middle of the Great Depression when comparatively few guns were being manufactured and sold- this is a standard model with correct 26" barrel (only used for this caliber- all others had either 24" or 20" barrels), exc. barrel blue, original sights include a hooded front with buckhorn rear sight, no provision for bolt peep, exc. wood shows light handling only, has original checkered steel shotgun butt plate, no extra holes added anywhere, exc. blue on mag tube even the forend cap shows fine blue that is flaking/wearing on the higher edges, receiver has fine deep blue with some areas of flaking to brown around the loading gate and edges etc., a few small spots of flaking on the left side, exc. blue on bolt with most of the blue intact on the upper tang and bottom- light flaking only, exc. bore and screws, probably only about a thousand of these were made before being discontinued because of World War II, one of the hardest standard production Winchester models/calibers to find.
