Description:
Inv.5662 Springfield  Mdl. 1884 Saddle Ring Carbine, Cal .45-70. Ser. 19XX. This gun is in lovely condition. The original arsenal blue is about 35%. The rest is toning to a soft silver blue gray from age. There are relatively no pits or rust on the barrel and action. The finish loss is just due to some light flaking and age. The trap door buttplate, barrel bands, trigger guard and sight have also toned to a soft silver gray. Again no rust or pits. The buttplate is stamped U.S., the left side has the remnants of the Springfield inspector's cartouche. The bar and saddle ring are intact and showing no rust. The lock plate is really great with the U.S. Springfield and eagle very legible. The surface does have some scattered pinpricks, the finish is silvergray.  The action works perfectly.. The rear sight is the Buffington type and is "C"marked for a carbine. The chamber and the inside of the breech block show little use.The bore is surprisingly bright. The rifling is is sharp and crisp with just a slight amount of graying. Should be great on the range, reenactment, or lovely in a collection.Very modestly priced at....$1295.
