Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: Rare Remington 1858 New Model Army .44 caliber revolver. This revolver was issued to the 9th Cavalry Co. K of the U.S colored troops nicknamed “Buffalo Soldiers” by the Indians. Organized 1866 in New Orleans with Colonel Edward Hatch commanding in autumn 1866. Additional Black Troops were recruited in Kentucky making the 9th U.S colored troops, all from Louisiana and Kentucky. In 1867 the 9th was ordered to San Antonio and then to South West Texas to maintain law and order between the Rio Grande and the Concho Rivers from Ft. Clark to El Paso. Co. K was stationed at Ft. Stockton, Texas under Colonel Hatch. The regiment had participation in the Apache Wars from 1875-1881 including battles with Chiricahua Apaches under chief Victorio in May of 1880. This revolver is prominently marked CO. K 9 Cav. On the left side of the frame. Gun has approximately 40% blue. Grips are very good. This revolver is inspected by Aimesworth (Letter “A” on major parts). Very desirable piece of Indian War history as related to the Legendary “Buffalo Soldiers”. SOLD Antique: Yes |
