Description:
Smith & Wesson .44 caliber Double Action First Model revolver. There were over 53,000 of these made from 1881 – 1913 and this one is #5185 so it had to be made in the early 1880’s. Mechanically this revolver is very sound; tight, indexes well, good springs. The bore is strong with great rifling although it is “frosted”. Cosmetically there is very little of the original blue visible, the original hard rubber grips are in great shape. Most likely it is chambered for .44 S&W Russian.
