Description:
Nice old J.M. Marlin Ballard A1 Mid-Range rifle chambered in 40-65 Everlasting, S/N 3044 circa 1881. This A1 Mid Range sports a 30", part round/part octagonal barrel. The bore is excellent for its age, very shiny with crisp rifling. Barrel bluing is very good, appearing to have been touched up or redone as it is uniformly dark along its length; some pitting on the exterior of the barrel exists mostly in the area near the front sight. The receiver's case colors have long since turned to a nice brown mottled patina. The nicely checkered fore-end with horn tip, and butt-stock fit very well, culminating in a shotgun style buttplate. Single standard trigger. Marlin Mid-range Graduated Peep tang sight and adjustable windgauge front sight.
Included are 3 boxes (60) of new 40-65 Everlasting brass from Rocky Mountain Cartridge Co. One box was loaded with 247 grain Lyman cast bullets and 63 grains of Goex Cart BP. 6 left unfired.
