Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Certified Check Description: This is an early production variation of the Smith and Wesson Model 1-1/2 Single Action Pocket Revolver in. 32 Caliber. These were made from 1878-1892 and was the firm's last dedicated spur trigger pocket revolver. This one has a good low serial number in thw 2500 range with a couple of features you won't find on later production examples. For starters, it has no strain screw on the front strap for adjusting tension to the mainspring. This is correct for serial numbers under 6,500.The other early feature of this revolver is the unmarked checkered hard rubber grips. Typically, these have an early form of the S&W logo at the top of each panel but some of the early production guns have these plain unmarked style grips. I don't think you could find one with a prettier pair of early grips. These are light brown with a great patina. S&W hard rubber grips usually came in a shade of dark brown, but every once in a while you'll see a pair of these lighter ones. Overall Condition grades to NRA Antique Excllent with 80% original nickel plating with some freckling and a few spots of light corrosion on the barrel. Latch retains 50% original blue and traces of case colors remain on the hammer. All matching numbers throughout. Fine screws and pins. Excellent markings including patent dates down the top barrel rib. Action is in Very Good order. Bore is Good overall...strong rifling with some scattered pits...typical of a black powder era bore. These early S&W's are one of the most fascinating and economical ways to build a solid collection of early American firearms without spending a small fortune. A collection of these pocket models can often be acquired in Fine-Exc condition for less than the price of a single Winchester rifle or Colt Single Action Army in similar condition. This is a great opportunity to pick up a scarce early variation of the 1-1/2 SA.
