Description:
SUPER RARE 1889 .44-40 SADDLE RING CARBINE, MADE 1892, supposedly about 5,000 of these were made, yet they almost never turn up.  It's my belief that most of them went to Mexico and the Southwest as some seem to have returned from there- usually in terrible condition. This one came out of Arizona and is by far better than most I've seen over the years, there is some aged blue on the receiver in protected areas and on the barrel/mag, but most of the metal is an uncleaned aged brown patina, original sights, exc. markings, fine+ forend with only light handling marks, butt stock also fine with a couple of very tiny chips by the upper/lower tang that are very very minor,  lightly carved small initials "R.E." on the left side of the butt stock and six small very old and worn in "kill notches" on the wrist area on the right side, tight action, surprisingly fine bore, possibly a replaced loading gate- I'm not sure on this one, great frontier appearance and amazingly hard to find!
