#4998 Colt 1878 D/A 4-3/4”x44WCF, manufactured in the 36XXX serial range (1897), VG bore and action is working properly on both S/A and D/A modes. There is some thin traces of original blue, but mostly this is a brown gun with scattered light/moderate pitting ..and some deeper pitting in a few spots. It has good hard rubber grips with moderate wear, and still has the lanyard intact. It does have the correct two-line barrel address and the much desired COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER barrel logo. Like its earlier Single Action brother gun, this was “the short-barreled bad forty-four” that Marty Robbins sang about in his song, “Mr. Shorty” (well worth listening to as it is a very “descriptive” song; look it up on the Internet). Good+/VG. $1175
