Description:
This Winchester 1894, Stokes factory engraved take-down model, serial number 565676 is caliber 38-55. Excellent and unusually engraved, as described in Wilson's "Winchester Engraving" on page 343. Quite out the ordinary are the standing bear and running doe motifs on the left frame and elk on the right. The forearm and pistol grip stock are of highly figured, fancy grain walnut with H style checkering and a piano finish. Rifle is equipped with a Lyman folding tang sight along with a Lyman bead front sight and Winchester rear sporting sight. Very fine conditioned rifle having 85 to 90 percent original blue fading at high spots. The highly figured fancy grade walnut stocks are in very good condition.
