Inscribed Colt 1849 Pocket Made in 1862. 6” barrel. Nice sharp gun with a good even patina. Some of the cylinder scene is visible. Gun is all matching. The back of the barrel was shaved at the bottom where it attaches to the frame. This was an old timers way of tightening up the barrel to frame fit. The blackstrap is engraved “Lieut. Sanford” in old English script. Upon are research there are too many lieutenant Sanford’s on both sides. Very neat regardless. Comes with old holster which is later then the period of the gun. Very good Colt 1849 that was almost undoubtedly in the civil war.
