Description:
This is a great old reloading tool in .44 W.C.F. or .44-40. This bullet was .44 caliber, weighted 200 grains and was powered by 40 grains of black powder. This was the first center fire cartridge that Winchester put out for one of their rifles and was the first reloadable cartridge Winchester produced. These were originally made for the venerable Winchester Model 1873, "the gun that won the west" and was then again used in the Winchester Model 1892 which is what you see in all old Westerns.
The .44-40 became so popular that Colt started making their famous six shooter in the same caliber so the boys could have a carbine and pistol chambered the same.
This is a great historic piece that will still make a cartridge or will just look good on display as a piece of the Old West.
