Description:
24″ medium weight round barrel is marked with Browning Arms Co on left side. The caliber, serial number a proof mark and “MADE IN BELGIUM” are on the right side. There are 2″ triangles of scrolled acanthus engraving on the sides of the breech end of the barrel. Coin finished Mauser action has gold-plated trigger. Action is engraved with well cut, shaded, acanthus scroll, as background to game scenes appropriate to caliber; a bugling elk is on right side of receiver ring, and a moose is on the left. Floorplate depicts a portrait of a grizzly bear standing on its hind legs, and a portrait of a snarling mountain lion is on the trigger guard bow. If the bugling elk and moose are signed, it is below the stock line and not visible. The standing grizzly is signed “J. Baerton”. The mountain lion is signed with initials “JB” (J. Baerton). Beautifully figured claro walnut gloss finished pistol grip stock is rosewood capped and fitted with Browning vented recoil pad. The stock features Monte Carlo comb with swept right hand cheekpiece, dual recoil bolts, and rosewood forend tip with white line spacer. Matching flared grip cap has inset gold diamond on bottom. Closely spaced checkering at grip and forend is flanked by relief carved scrolling acanthus with stipple shaded background. Sling studs are in forend and on toe line. Weight: 8.1 lbs. Length of pull: 13-1/2″. Condition: Excellent, in near new condition, with little evidence of having been fired much, retaining all its finishes on wood and metal. There are a few scattered, very faint handling marks. Gold is excellent with a few light marks. There are operating marks on bolt. Bore is excellent. Mechanically perfect.
