These Jambiyas were made in Central and South India for sale to travelling Arabs who were there mostly to trade in the 19th Century. This example has a polished horn hilt, a clean and typical Arab Jambiya blade, with a raised central spine. The wooden scabbard is covered with faded red velvet, which indicates a late 19th Century date (or has been recovered at that time).
