MEADOWS. CIRCA 1950’S-60’S. 56 ½” overall with 41 ¼’ octagon .45 caliber rifled, sighted barrel engraved in script on the top flat “L.A.M.”. Lock plate unsigned on the outer face. Finely figured maple stock with floral incise carving in the Lancaster-Lebanon School manner circa 1800. Engraved brass patch box with “acorn” finial and engraved brass side plate and toe plate. Silver barrel pin escutcheons, oval wrist escutcheon “tear drop” wrist inlays. Excellent overall and in working order with good bore. Metal with some minor salt and pepper old surface rust which is easily removed. Leonard Meadows was from West Virginia and was a known though not prolific maker of longrifles and Kentucky style pistols and usually signed his work with his script initials. He died in the 1970’s.
