Checkering is worn, bores are pitted and there was an expert repair to the stock which was split but an internal piece of wood was added by London trained Ken Genecco of Stockton, CA which actually makes the stock stronger. Anyway, you probably wouldn't have noiced that if I didn't mentnion it and the repair was about what I'm asking for the gun. This is not a utility gun and has nice deep cut fences as you can plainly see. It was a mid-range or better gun when introduced in 1879. I've shot doves with it before wih my hand-loads from Ballictic Products in MN and the barrels are stout at 3 1/4 pounds... Damascus of course! So, you can either have your gunsmith check it out for shootability, or use it as a wall-hanger or sleeve it. The gun would look great with the other older box-lock I am listing as that Greener was made within a year or two after this one. Facing each other over the other the entrance to your garage would make a statement about your passion for collecting/shooting fine firearms. Please review the specs for gun dimensions. Thanks for looking! If you buy both of my 1880'ish shotguns, I will discount them by $100 each!
