Smooth action, about a 6 bore with medium wear, some light scale and light pitting the entire length, but is average for a ’73 in this overall condition. It should still spin a bullet and be reasonably accurate in the 50-75 yard ranges ….but that’s just a somewhat educated guess on my part. The exterior is an even mottled grey-brown patina with VG markings on average uncleaned metal. G+ wood that shows the bumps and dings of 130 years of frontier use, modern reproduction dustcover that needs to be aged and have a proper catch installed. (It just has a common nut rather than the little flat piece of metal that catches on the extractor to pull the cover open when levered). Nothing special here, just a frontier modified ’73 …but an interesting and handy little back-packing rifle with a lot of a “cowboy charisma” appearance. Simple non-adjustable rear sight and pinched blade front sight. About G+. $1195 SOLD Antique: Yes |
