Description:
This is a hammer shotgun in 10 ga. Marking on top of the bbl is "L.C. Smith Maker of Baker Gun Syracuse N.Y. Stub Twist". This is in the very early 1880's. Not only rare but a fine example also. A very nice Damascus pattern showing. Smooth metal and a couple of dings on the bbls. Bores are quite good with just light pitting towards the chamber area. Frame still has quite a lot of case colors. Another unique feature on these early Baker guns was the opening system. The action opens by pushing the front trigger forward. Wood is overall nearly exceptional. Some light dings but good fitting to tangs and frame. Slight age shrinkage at the buttplate. A rare unique shotgun!
