188?1 This winchester was born making it an early 2nd model loads and ejects correctly and smart. the acrion is crisp and snappy half cock is crisp and holds tightly. the finish retains about 80% blue and is taking on that beautiful blue plumb patina with the blue glowing. there is some oxidation on the 24 inch magazine tube probably from poor storage. The eges of the 24 inch octagom barrel are very sharp and crisp for a 135 years old rifle. the wood shows no cracks or chips with good metal to wood fit appears original to me i didnt take all apart. the screw look very crisp. the barrel address is sharp and clear show evidence of rubbing on address so people can see it better. Upon inspection of the bore is some what dark but shows as bright an shiny with sharp rifeling on a scale of one to 10 its an 8 + after all is 136 years old. The rear sight is a winchester rocky mountain and the Tang sight is a very early WRA ajustable for wind and elevation the front sight is Globe fold up or down...the sights alone are a 1000. dollars. I have been collecting winchesters for almost 50 year have to say this is one of many fine rifles.............I ve owned through the years.......its not perfect but dam close to it its all of 90 % circa 1881 serial # 74.xxx if you havve looked prices are high on these the value is always tied to condition......
