Produced in the 21XXX serial range and thus being made in 1888. Exterior retains about 65-75% nickel coverage and the density varying from 0% on the cylinder to 80% on the frame and barrel; the remainder being smooth bare grey metal with minimal pitting where the nickel is gone. What nickel is missing is mainly flaked off; the only real wear being at the muzzle, on the back strap, and especially on the cylinder where it is entirely gone due to the old practice of cleaning by boiling the cylinder to remove the powder residue build-up. The “CFSS” roll-die barrel panel is crisp and sharp, as is the addess and serial number. The original hard rubber grips are VG with some wear to the right grip. (see photos). The very often missing lanyard ring is also intact. A decent, showy, big frame double action Colt in very near Fine condition and becoming hard to find at any but the largest gun shows. $1795 SOLD Antique: Yes |
