Description:
#4933 Winchester Model 1886 OBFMCBw/SST, 40/65WCF, 14XXX(1888), VG bore (about a 7 to 8 on a scale of 10) and crisp tight smooth action. Fine smooth unpitted metal with liberal blue on the barrel (70% coverage with 70% density) and the tube having 20-30% coverage with 30% density. The receiver has faint cloudy grey case colors mixed with a light patina on the left side of the frame, but has 30-40% coverage of a 30% density case color on the loading port side. Fine metal and VG+ wood with just minor wear and no mentionable damage. Standard buckhorn rear sight and pinched blade front. The 40/65WCF caliber is a very comfortable round to shoot with low recoil, and still retains decent ballistics, being basically a smaller version of the 40/82WCF. While this particular Winnie is no great “deluxe high-grade advanced collectors item”, these standard grade and common calibered ‘86s are becoming VERY difficult to find in conditions that are unaltered and original, and this one also has the very desirable single-set trigger.
