Description:
Sedgley 1903 Springfield Sporter in superb original condition. This .30-06 sporting rifle is built on a 1903 Springfield action, built by Rock Island Arsenal, one of the US Government's contractors for 1903 rifles. Most Sedgley sporters were USED, and used hard. This one has not been, and I have shot it. With its' Lyman 48 Rear sight and Hooded front sight, I can place three shots into one inch at 100 yards when using high quality ammunition. THe 24 " barrel's bore is perfect, and there is no noticeable wear at either the muzzle or the throat. Sling swivels are original, and it has an older Boyt Harness Company sling. Point pattern checkering is crisp on the schnabel forend, and on the wrist. Buttplate is the original Winchester 54 / 70 type used by Sedgley. Floorplate is engraved with a Mountain Lion in Silver (or possibly Platinum as it does not seem to tarnish). Blue is original, and maker's markings are crisp and correct. Extraordinarily nice example of a fine American sporting rifle.
