They have .50 caliber octogon barrels with front and rear sights. The barrels are Damascus steel with a browned finish, most of which remains. The barrel tang, hammer and lock have a grey pewter finish which is close to 100% remaining. The trigger guard has a deep blue finish which is almost all remaining. .All of the screws are blued. The hammer, lock, barrel tang, trigger guard,and all of the screws are all nicely engraved. The breach plugs appear to be platinum. One hammer does not hold on half cock. The wooden ramrods have a unique shape . The English walnut stocks extend almost to the end of each barrel, are nicely grained and beautifully checkered There are a no cracks, splits, chips or lost wood.. There is a small blank escutcheon plate at the top of each grip. The locks are marked" PEGLER" and the top of each barrel is marked " PEGLER BLANDFORD" The bores look good. There are no visible proofmarks. The fitted case is in excellent condition with green baize lining in excellent condition. The case bears another makers label,who might have been a maker of pistol cases.. The pistols fit like the case was made for them. The case measures 13 & 3/4" X 7 & 1/2" X 2 & 1/2" and has a blank name plate on the lid. There is a key which turns the lock, but the lock does not hold. Included is a small (4 & 1/2") bag shaped copper powder flask marked "DIXON & SONS", in good condition with a few dents on one side. The spring works fine. The overall condition of this fine set rates NRA Fine Plus. These are antiques so no FFL is required. They may be sent directly to a new proud collector.
