Quality Consignments Wanted! This is a "Baby" Nambu From the Tokyo Arsenal. The serial number is 4823. This serial number is listed in the book {Japanese Military Cartridge Handguns 1893-1945} by Harry Derby. In the back of this book is the listings of the known Presentation Nambu's. This serial number is listed as one of those as used for a Presentation by the Emperor Taisho 1911 to 1926. Most of these pistols were presented to Honor students at the Military Academy. The top of the frame in Kanji Characters translates to Imperial Gift. All of the serial numbers including the magazine match. The bore is bright and clean. The grips show some wear, however, there is no cracks or chips. The action functions properly and is tight. The magazine retains all of the plating. These "Baby" Nambu's Chamber a special 7 M/M Nambu Cartridge. This pistol shows service use and holster wear. The rust bluing is very strong. There is some speckling and spotting of the blue finish in places. The springs are very serviceable. The holster also shows service use. There are no tears or damage to the leather. The ammunition pouch has all the loops intact. There is some aging to the leather in spots. This pistol would rate a 90% overall condition. The holster would rate about the same condition. There is about 13 known issued Presentation pistols. How many survived the war is unknown. This is one of these rare pistols.
