Description: SOLD...Antique Winchester model 1894. 30-30 caliber, octagon barrel with an excellent bore. Here is a pretty nice ole antique 94 Winchester. Tom Horns favorite and for good reason. S/N 129620 and according to Madis was made in 1898.. Has the standard 26" octagon barrel. The bore is excellent. NO pitting. It is bright and shiny and not even frosty.. Deep and sharp rifling with NO rings or bulges. Way above avearge bore for an old 94. This gun shoots fantastic with my cast bullet hand loads. It is a tack driver. If you are looking for a shooter, here it is... The mechanics are excellent and positive. It feeds, fires and ejects flawlessly. Half and full cock notches are perfect. All the markings are excellent as well. The metal is a medium dark plumb patina with good traces of blue on the bottom of the barrel where protected by the mag tube. Has some very fine pin prick pitting on the top of the receiver on the left side but is very minor. It does not detract at all from this ole 94.. There is also traces of blue on the lower tang area and quite a bit on the bottom of the action block where the lever is. The mag tube has some blue remaining also in the protected area by the barrel.. The balance of the metal is smooth and never cleaned on or messed with. Just the way you love to find them,. The front sight is a blade type {see photo} with a brass bead and is absolutely as old as the rifle. Just might not be original but you could custom order any type of sights on these guns when they were made. Ah, the good ole days !!! The rear sight is original semi buckhorn and has NOT been filed on top like a lot have been. The wood is very good with the forearm showing wear on the bottom next to the receiver from riding many, many miles laying over the saddel pommel. NO splits or cracks and still fits tight to the metal. There are many little dings and dents on the left side of the forearm towards the front from the gun leaning or banging against something. Very old.. The butt stock is very nice with no splits or cracks but has one small chip by the lower tang towards the end. {see photo}. It still fits tight to the metal also and just shows minor scratches and wear. Shows more wear at the toe of the butt plate as most all of these old rifles will show. Just good honest wood on this one and never sanded on or messed with that I can see.. All the screw heads are sharp and clean and not all burred up. All in all a pretty nice antique 94 rifle. Has an excellent bright bore and is super accurate. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping. Don't miss this one as it is priced very reasonable !!!!
