Description:
Serial #8758g, 9mm, 4” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a “byf” coded pistol with “42” chamber date that retains 97-98% of the original blue finish that has some mild gray fading on the sides of the muzzle and along the projecting edges and bearing surfaces of the toggle and bolt. There is some further mild fading on the sideplate and forward edges of the frame, but this is minor and does not detract at all from the splendid appearance of the pistol. All numbers match on the pistol except for the checkered wooden grips (“52” on the interior) which have some light wear with some minor flattening of the points on either side, mainly around the butt. The pistol is housed in an excellent 1940 dated brown leather hard-side holster with Auwarter & Bubeck manufacturer's stamp between the belt loops. The serial number of the pistol was added to the interior of the the holster by its previous owner (“Fw. Di[?]”, possibly “Dies” or “Dier” - Feldwebel is an NCO rank equivalent to a modern Staff Sergeant in the US Army). Also included is take-down tool and single, non-matching aluminum base magazine. This is an excellent example of an early war Mauser Luger with a terrific original numbered holster, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
