Description:
For sale is a Cimarron Spec, Pedersoli , Billy Dixon 1874 Sharps Rifle, 45-70, 32" octagon barrel. It has an Axtell Spirit Level Globe front sight, Ladder Type rear barrel mounted sight, and a Lee Shaver Super Grade Soule Long Range tang sight with a Hadley Eyecup, mounted on the rifle tang. The condition of the rifle and sights is 99.99% like new. Bore is mint. The rifle has had only black powder and cast lead bullets fired through it.
The bore has a 1:18 twist, is .450" across the Lands, and a .458" Groove diameter. The bore has a slight taper from the breech to the muzzle for improved accuracy.
As a safety improvement to this rifle, Lee Shaver installed a hardened steel insert in the block, around the firing pin hole. (photo) This prevents primers seated too deeply, and large pistol primers, from moving to the rear upon firing, thus peening and closing down the firing pin hole. Safety is increased as a protruding, stuck firing pin, will cause a rifle to fire prematurely upon closing the breech. ( I've never used Large Pistol Primers in this rifle.)
Cimarron Specifications are for upgraded wood, fit, and finish, for the Pedersoli rifles Cimarron imports. Import markings, etc. are placed ,unobtrusively, on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the forearm.

Given the condition of this rifle, about the only difference from new is it doesn't come with the original box.

For this amount it still comes with the steel insert (not removable), spare lever spring, and two spare firing pins. The rifle will have the original front and rear barrel sights. Free shipping and insurance to your FFL. There's a three day inspection period, no shooting. I don't mind a dropping of the block to inspect the Hardened Steel Insert but, any dents or scratches and it is unreturnable.
Keep it and shipping and insurance are free. Return it with no questions asked, and buyer pays shipping and insurance both ways, plus the $12.00 listing fee. However, this really only affects those with buyer's remorse.
