Description:
  • French Tabatiere Conversion 12ga Shotgun
  • Caliber: 12ga
  • Barrel: 34"
  • Note: This is an 1867 Belgian conversion of an 1853 French rifle musket, marketed to colonial Africa where it picked up the name "Zulu" shotgun. The Tabatiere action is a take off of the Snider action that was designed to convert muzzle-loading rifles to breech-loading rifles. These guns were traded/ sold to native populations and ended up being used in many skirmishes with the English. An interesting piece of firearms history. Bore is bright and action is crisp.
