Up for sale is a fantastic example of what is arguably one of the finest revolvers that has ever been produced. These hand-built revolvers were first introduced in 1955 and produced until mid the 2000's, the now discontinued Colt Python is one of the most highly regarded revolvers in the world. Formerly manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. The Colt Python is sometimes referred to as a "Combat Magnum" or "Python Magnum".
Some firearm collectors and writers such as Jeff Cooper, Ian V. Hogg, Chuck Hawks, Leroy Thompson, Renee Smeets and Martin Dougherty have described the Python as the finest production revolver ever made.
This model (serial number K62127) was produced in 1981 and features a "Bright Nickel" finish and a 6" vent rib barrel. Judging from the light signs of use, this firearm has had probably a few boxes of shells through it throughout the course of it's life. Firearm is still exceptionally clean with light signs of carbon on cylinder face and very mild scoring on the cylinder gap.
Action on this firearm feels like it floats on ball bearings, double and single action pull is perfect and crisp. Bore is bright and very clean along with the rest of firearm.
Only real condition issues are best exemplified in the pictures. There are a few light surface marks likely from a holster on the lower portion of the barrel, abrasion marks here and there from wiping it down and a couple of blemishes in the finish. The rear portion of the grip frame is lightly discolored and a small section on the frame where the thumb would rest. There is only one small speck of rust on the corner of the frame and cylinder guard (shown in pictures). Unfortunately the original box and paperwork is NOT included with this firearm, however it will ship in a foam lined hard case.
