Description:
In the early 1980s collector demand for the Taiyuan .45 ACP C96 pistols had driven prices to exceedingly high levels. A group of enterprizing Chinese businessmen reproduced the gun as "refinished originals".The subterfuge was soon discovered with the most obvious telltale sign being the markings on the pistol. Original Model 17s had rollmarked die characters with lines of unequal width and frequently tapered at their ends. These new guns had pantographed characters with lines that were of uniform width and ended with a blunt tip.  The model depicted here is one of these late reproductions nontheless, a worthy addition to any collection.
