Description:
Mexican (or Argintine?) Copy of 1873 Winchester Saddle Ring Carbine 44-40.  Mexican, Argentine, doubtful Spanish, copy of a Model 1873 Winchester Saddle Ring Carbine in 44-40 caliber.  Looks exactly like a real Winchester, except dust cover is made of just thin sheet iron, not cast like a real Winchester.  Action functions.  The gun has been reblued and stocks refinished, but the brass bottom of elevator and brass door to cleaning rod compartment in buttstock show old mustard colored patina.  Ca. 1880s to 1890 manufacture.  Likely used in Mexican revolution era ca. 1900-1910.  Smooth Blued finish.  Likely it was pitted/rusted and was sanded before reblueing.  Couple of very tiny dents on right side of magazine tube.  Too bad someone refinished it.  I have another real Winchester 1873 SRC that was remarked on the tang "NEW MODEL 1894," and sold to Mexicans; likely it was reblued too, but now shows hard use and I paid $1900 for it and was glad to get it.  Americans sold some of the older models remarked as new guns to Mexico ca. late 1890s-1910.  Anyway, this one is what is is, as they say, and the price reflects that. $25.00 shipping.
