Description:
5) EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND 1893 SADDLE RING CARBINE IN .38-55 CALIBER, "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL" MARKED BARREL, #374XXX MADE C.1907, all Marlin saddle ring carbines are quite rare and those in calibers like .32-40 and .38-55 especially so, fine overall condition with good aged barrel blue showing signs of thinning, mag tube about the same with more brown mixing evenly from age, I believe this was a blued receiver which was often used on carbines instead of case color and the blue has aged to a mixture of blue/plum, has a very small spot of old pin prick pitting on the extreme forward part of the bolt only, correct ladder carbine sight with slide intact, saddle ring intact, exc. markings, generally excellent wood with one sling swivel stud hole in the bottom of the butt stock with a small surface chip by it- easily filled or just left as is- minor, one very tiny sliver out by upper tang/rec. juncture on the right side almost too small to mention, bore a little dark but should scrub out to near exc., fine blue on loading gate, exc. screws, tight action, I almost never get these in.
