-Sale Pending- What we have here is a New Browning Hi-Power pistol in the now discontinued 40 S&W caliber. The Hi-Power is no longer available from Browning in 40 S&W caliber. The condition is NEW with the polymer box and all the paperwork and accessories. It is blued finish. This version is referred to as the Standard Model. The Standard Model version in 9 mm can still be seen on Browning'ssite.
The Hi-Power is based on an original design by John Moses Browning which was finalized by Fabrique Nationale in 1935. You will often see this pistol and its' clones referred to as the P-35. Like John Browning's 1911 design is it single action only. This design is the original high capacity pistol and is no polymer wonder. It functions on the short recoil method and the breech is unlocked by cam actuation. John Browning had sold his patent for the tilting barrel and link in the 1911 to Colt. You will find some variation of this Browning cam actuated locked breech design in the majority of the semiautomatic handguns on the market today. Here you can own the original.
