Colt, ORIGINAL ANTIQUE- NOT A REPRODUCTION, percussion revolver, 2nd Model Dragoon, .44 caliber, s/n 9621, ALL MATCHING NUMBERS, OF COURSE, INCLUDING THE WEDGE, two year production of only 8000-10,700 in 1850-51- this one late 1851, MORE SCARCE THAN THE FIRST OR THIRD MODEL DRAGOONS, 7 1/2 " barrel, MARKED U. S. ON FRAME, there are no cartouches on the grips although they may have been sanded off when the grips were nicely refinished,
THE CONDITION IS OUTSTANDING, IT RETAINS 100% OF ITS ORIGINAL FINISH, frame and ejector rod retain all of their original case coloring which has faded normally after 164 years, frame exhibits minimal scattered very light patina in spots, CYLINDER RETAINS ALL OF TEXAS RANGER AND INDIAN FIGHT SCENE which is light but all there (see photos), barrel retains all of its original finish which has faded somwhat into a very appealing dull blue with a couple of small areas of minimal light patination, bore is Very Good, TRIGGER GUARD AND BACKSTRAP RETAIN MUCH OF THEIR ORIGINAL SILVER PLATING OVER THE BRASS EXHIBITING THE MOST WEAR ON THE BACKSTRAP, grips have been nicely refinished which may account for there being no cartouches on them,
IN ALL, THIS IS A FANTASTIC 164 YEAR OLD SURVIVOR 2ND MODEL DRAGOON, A GREAT ADJUNCT TO ANYONE'S SERIOUS COLLECTION, IT CERTAINLY DIDN'T SEE MUCH USE DURING THE CIVIL WAR, Retail value $22,500.00, Sale priced at $19,990
