Colt, ORIGINAL ANTIQUE- NOT A REPRODUCTION, Model 1851 Navy, 4th Model, caliber .36, s/n 103790 (MFG. 1861- ALL MATCHING INCLUDING THE WEDGE), 7 1/2" barrel, BORE GOOD TO VERY GOOD,
This firearm retains much of original case colors and blue however it exhibits heavy pitting on the left side of the barrel and the breach, two areas on the cylinder, and the hammer, THE NAVAL BATTLE SCENE IS BASICALLY INTACT ON THE CYLINDER EXCEPT WHERE AFFECTED BY THE TWO RUST AREAS (SEE PHOTOS), the grips have been varnished over, THE TRIGGER GUARD AND BACKSTRAP RETAIN 50% OF THEIR ORIGINAL SILVER PLATING AND ARE IN NICE CONDITON, it appears that while under attack someone beat the crap out of the area around the wedge trying to get it out in order to reload in a hurry (just a guess as to how it got damaged, LOL),
Excellent representative example of an 1851 Naby that looks like it saw serious service during the war so we priced it fairly at $1495.00
