Description:
Quality Consignments Wanted ! The barrel date is 8-43. The serial number is 1836202. This is an all complete unaltered carbine! This carbine has the correct high wood stock with the S'G' stamp The barrel is made by Underwood which is one of the prime contractors for making barrels for Saginaw Gear-Grand Rapids. Most of the internal parts are S'G' coded. There are a few I.P. parts such as the butt plate. This is completely correct as S'G' took over Irwin Pedersen production. This carbine shows no service use or having been fired much. The flat blued bolt shows very little wear on the lug and guide rail. The parkerized finish is fully intact. The stock and hand guard have all the original finish and would rate a 98% overall condition. The carbine itself would rate a 98% overall condition. It also has the correct S'G' coded magazine. The sling is the correct early style sling. This carbine is one of the finest all original unaltered in any way carbines we have ever offered for sale! Keep in mind, That Saginaw Gear of Grand Rapids produced about 2% of the total production of M1 carbines during the war! That was about 293,592 carbines. This makes Saginaw Gear Grand Rapids The second rarest carbine! The rarest is a Irwin Pedersen with very few ever comleted and passed inspection. It would be less than 1% of production. Also keep in mind how many of these S'G' carbines still exist in their original configuration. THis puts this gun in the very rare collectors rating!
